This anchorage is the gateway to arrange a tour to Mt Yasur volcano. It is also home to a very quiet yacht club with pretty landscaped grounds and guest cottages. There wasn't much going on at the club other than a very friendly cat. The club sits up on the hill to port as you enter the harbor. The head of the harbor is shoal as is the southern edge behind the yacht club. Anchor toward the middle of the bay in 15-20 feet of black sand. Good holding. There is usually a swell rolling through the anchorage which can be very uncomfortable. We've heard that it is untenable in strong East to North winds. There are hot springs among the rocks on the western side of the harbor.
