About: "Evergreen", a Tashiba 40 and we're sailing around the world.

Sure can't beat trade wind sailing! But we are ready to be there already. 407 miles to go.

Must be beginning to sound like a broken record, but once again another nice day of sailing with good progress. We now have about 570 miles to go, can't wait to get there. Winds are about 15-20 out of the east with about 1.5 meter seas. Pretty comfortable.

Starry sky, bright moon, good wind, great sailing. 723 miles to go.

Didn't have to motor for long before the wind filled in again. Lunchtime entertainment was a whale breaching over and over a few hundred yards from the boat. Morale is good onboard and we are excited to think we might actually get to Martinique! The water is bluer than blue today and it seems we have left the African dry air behind for more humidity instead. So we must be getting closer to the Caribbean.

It is starting to feel a lot like Groundhog day out here. Glad there is usually more variety to life than this. The wind died this morning and we started the motor to drown out the slatting sails. After no signs of human life for a week, crossed paths with a sailboat last night less than a mile away. Still making good progress, about 880 miles left to go!

Nice sailing overnight as we seem to be moving past the squall area. Around 5am UTC we crossed our halfway point, so it is all downhill from here. The sun is back out this morning with about 15-18 knots on the stern. Evergreen really does well wing and wing. Oh yeah, because of the previous night squalls we put in a "preventative second reef" to make last night less stressful. IT worked, since we only saw one small squall ;-)

Who needs sleep? Boisterous night with several squalls and sloppy seas. Will have to catch up on rest today. Might not be working on our suntans either as it is cloudy. Our new mainsail is a nice shade of peach from all the dirty Sahara dust that comes in the rain.

Merry Christmas! Good sailing, though a little slower than before as the wind is now about 15 knots from behind us. Still probably averaging about 6 knots so the miles are slowly ticking away.

This is a special edition position report to wish anyone who is reading this a Merry Christmas! We are merrily going about our mundane passage activities but thankful that we are both still onboard, the boat is one piece still, we haven't had any serious breakages yet and we have comfortable sailing conditions. Can't ask for more than that! We sailed 32 miles off our rhumb line through the night which is always hard to do mentally but now we have turned back to our course and are able to sail it so that feels good. The waves are stacked up behind us ready to pass under our keel and give us a good shove westward on the way by. I keep hoping a drone will come by and drop off a stocking full of goodies but I guess rummaging around in the lockers will have to be good enough. Best wishes from us!

Conditions still good. Having to head off course a bit though due to wind angle. Late last evening we passed the quarter way (distance wise) mark! So about 525 miles in 3.5 days, which is pretty good for us.

We've been underway for almost 72 hours but it feels like a lot more. Still have good sailing conditions and we are sailing wing and wing with the pole out. Have been heading off course some to keep the sails full so will gybe today to head back the other way. It is much warmer and we are in shorts and shirt which makes nights easier too. 1655 miles to go. A cattle egret landed on our solar panel yesterday to take a rest. Don't know what he is doing out here, a long way from anything. We thought we were the only ones out here!

Good sailing right now, wind and seas have dropped a bit. We are going a bit slower but probably still averaging 6.2 knots. Enjoying nice sunny days.

Well after 3 days of nice weather we are getting a bit of a payback. Still moving well but in lumpy seas with gusts to 30knots. Evergreen is taking it all in stride and all we need to do is sit back and enjoy the ride ;-)

All is well, less than 400 miles to go. Definitely planning a stop in Cape Verde as we have a couple of things to fix on the mainsail track and chafe at the reef point. Plus we hear Cape Verde music is great... Had a quiet day yesterday with light winds and lots of sun. Motorsailed to keep speed up because a large swell and increased winds are coming down to us from the north. Yippee! A large pod of dolphin visited and entertained us with their flips. I could hear them squeaking through the hull. A couple of pieces of fishing flotsam and 2 birds but other than that, just a lot of blue. We are settling in to a routine and are managing some sleep. The time is starting to go faster. The Atlantic rowers start today.

We've been in San Sebastian on La Gomera the past few days exploring the town and the island. Doing some hiking.  We freed a pigeon from way up in a palm tree because his foot got caught on a frond and he spent the whole night in the tree unable to move. That felt good to help him out! We have noticed that it is getting colder here and more gray but still lovely! Planning to head to the last island- El Hierro in a few days once the winds settle down. Then off to sea.

Have been in the lovely town of Santa Cruz on La Palma for over a week now. The marina has a lot of motion from swell (always) but aside from that, it has been a great base for exploring the island. We've done a ton of hiking and this raven was pretty interested in our lunch as we sat in the car to stay warm after one of our hikes.

Arrived at Garachico yesterday on the north coast of Tenerife after a 50 mile rolly sail/motor. Something is up with the spinnaker pole so have to fix that now! The marina here is a feat of engineering on the swelly open coast with high cliffs above. Once inside the walls it feels like you're in a fort! The other day we came over here in the car to scope out the town &  marina to see if we wanted to sail over and we thought it was beautiful even though it was really windy that day. This pic is a view of the town & coast and you can see how exposed it is. Crazy area and we plan to explore it today.
