This is one of the most popular entry points into New Zealand for cruisers. The Q-Dock for checking in is the break water for the marina. Just tie up there and wait for the officials to come to you. Once checked in this marina is a safe place to clean up after the passage. There is a nice yacht club there that has food and drinks and is a popular get together spot. Within the marina complex is numerous yachting related services so you can probably get done what you need to here.  There is also Cater Marine chandlery on site.
