"Razende Bol" translates to "Raging Ball". It is an uninhabited island (except for hordes of seals) to the south-west of Texel at the edge of the Wadden Sea. The official name is "Noorderhaaks".

The island hardly sticks it's top above sea level and during storms it will disappear all together. To the North East there's a passage between Texel and the Razende Bol called Molengat. A passage not to be trifled with as it is fairly narrow and depth varies. Accurate depth levels are not available and the coast guard will not tell you what they are. Stay away during heavy weather and low waters and if you do go (great to do) keep your eyes glued to your sounder.

Anchoring on the east shores is possible but probably not allowed for overnight stays (not sure though). It is well out of the shipping lane, which can be a pretty busy one. You can thingy on to the island but beware as it is part of the Wadden Nature Reserve and the Razende Bol is protected as a habitat for seals. At the time of writing the northern area is off limits to everyone. Please do check the rules and stick to them - the Wadden is a true treasure that has to be protected.

All in all though a pretty stunning place te be!
