Entering this marina can be tricky due to the incessant swell at the mouth of the channel at 23°16'08.3"N 106°28'03.5"W that leads inland to the marina docks. Local knowledge states to attempt the entrance in the morning as westerlies typically build up in the afternoon making the swell at the entrance worse.  In addition, a dredger usually starts around 10am and positions itself at 23°16'09.5"N 106°27'57.1"W just around the corner from the entrance, hidden from view as you pass the go-no-go zone.  Several times we’ve entered this channel using these guidelines with no problems, however, recently, we had to wait at nearby Isla de Venados 23°14'06.1"N 106°27'45.7"W for three days until the relentless breaking waves subsided at the channel entrance enough for us to attempt an entry.  While at anchor, waiting, we discovered the surfer web site https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Jacarandas/forecasts/latest/six_day and monitored the wave energy.  For us, a 38 ft cat with 3 ft keel, we failed to enter due to breaking waves at the entrance when the wave energy, as listed in the surf report above, was ~1100 and again the next day at ~800, but had no issues on the 3rd day entering when the wave energy was ~400.  The dredger was right in the middle of the channel at 8am despite the marina office assuring us it wouldn’t be operating, but we managed to squeak by slowly with about 3 ft to spare.
