On a visitors mooring in 25 knots SE turning S during the night and was comfortable. There are 3 free visitor moorings over this side and in my opinion it is more sheltered over this side than behind the smaller island (Low Island) where there are another 2 moorings. It is just as close to where to go ashore to walk round  Low Island where the lighthouse is anyway. Woody Island is protected. Good snorkeling.  There is no resort here, but it is a spot setup for tourists from Port Douglas who are herded here each day so there are quite a few tourist operator moorings (and their tenders) in the lagoon. But after 3 pm you have the place much to yourself.
