We found this nickel mining area somewhat unattractive (although there are beautiful mountains on the opposite side of the bay) and we couldn't get our anchor to hold in any of the nearby anchoring spots but this one worked. It was 25 feet of red mud though which meant a lot of chain clean-up on departure. In the village just inside the cove near this anchorage, there is a small grocery store with very limited produce, some frozen meat & vegetables and the usual canned selections. Fuel is available at a station approx 3km away- you would need to hitch a ride. This is the site of a very long mining conveyor belt- one of the longest in the world. Friends who hitched a ride to the gas station were taken on a detour by a friendly local who showed them the conveyor up close which was very interesting. Protection is East/South/West. Wouldn't be good in NW or North.

Features
