Watson's bay is a large, pleasant anchorage that offers good protection in prevailing winds. The further in you get, the less roll there is. Holding is excellent in sand. Beautiful beach to pull the dinghy on to. The island is mainly park and there are several walking trails, including one up to Cook's Lookout that offers great views & some cellular service. Lizard Island Resort may be able to offer dive opportunities. There is a great barrier reef research station on the island that sometimes offers tours of their facility. There is a park campground ashore with pit toilet and picnic tables. There is great snorkeling in the anchorage at the Clam Gardens- marked with floats. There are many GIANT clams here! No anchoring inside floats.
