I came via Three Isles thinking I may stay there, but I wasn't quite happy with the conditions which at the time was 17-19 knots SE, so carried on to here knowing this is a very safe anchorage. Last time here I anchored in the bay directly under the Point. But this bay is completely in the shadow of a large hill which blocks cell phone reception which I wanted as I still had a few area maps to finish downloading. In the next bay further west you get Telstra 3g. There are a few moorings here as it is a company base that ships out silica sand in this bay. Still able to anchored reasonably close in 4M at LT. Be careful of a reef that dries at LT to the west of the anchorage which does not show in the pics/chart. A very disappointing anchorage. It was a very bumpy stay. The wind seems to whistle right across the low sand ismith. and into the bay creating quite a wind blown chop which clashes with the remnants of the swell which comes round the point. But in the 15-20 kt wind (in the bay) the anchor held exceptionally well (guessing 20-25 outside) Held like a rock. The company mines are off limits and the surrounding land is Aboriginal Private Land which you require a permit to go ashore so you are boat bound. So unless you want internet, anchor in the more sheltered and picturesque bay under the point.
