Bottom Type Sand

This is a bay between Vivara Island & Procida Island. The head of the cove has a pedestrian bridge that leads to Vivara island where there used to be a bird preserve but it is currently closed. People now use the bridge and surrounding rocks to sun bathe. The area close to Vivara island is apparently part of a marine park and anchoring is not allowed however the eastern side of the bay looks to be outside the perimeter and when we were here there were boats anchored all over on both sides and no one patrolling the area. There is fairly good protection in here but it is swelly just the same. Anchor in weed & sand approx 36 feet. There is nowhere to tie the dinghy- best to go around the corner to Chiaiolella with it where you can tie it up safely in the harbor. Basic provisions available in the town as well as bus service to other parts of the island.
