The following is taken from the Marina Smir website: This magnificent pleasure boat harbor, considered the pearl of the yacht harbors in the Southern Mediterranean, is situated in the North of Morocco, only 10 miles from the Strait of Gibraltar and 50 miles from the Spanish Coast. With its 450 permanent moorings from 6 to 60 m, this marina has a capacity of receiving anything from small sport boats to megayachts of up to 180 ft in length. Port Marina Smir is managed by the Moroccan branch of the prestigious group of boat companies, Marina Group Investments, which Marina Marbella, S.A. also belongs to. The construction of this port was concluded by one of the group companies in 1992 and has excellent potential being the first yacht harbor in a country undergoing a rapid process of modernization, economic growth and closeness to Europe."
We visited in 7/2017. The marina seemed a little run down with limited facilities but it is still a good, protected place to keep a boat. Customs & immigration formalities were easy, friendly and they are open 24hrs in summer. Wifi only worked right outside the marina office and bathroom facilities are very basic. Taxi's and guides available to tour the medina of Tetouan. The marina complex is busy with jet skiers, beachgoers and there are a few restaurants. Staff were not monitoring VHF radio. They now have 2 suppliers of fuel at the fuel dock so it's unlikely they will run out of fuel as in the past. It is cheaper to buy it here than in Gibraltar or Spain.
