Since Townsville is in such a shallow bay with practically no anchorage unless you have a very shoal draft boat, Breakwater Marina is the best option if you want to see the the city. The marina monitors channel 10 and is very friendly & efficient. They have spotless facilities, modern docks and fuel. Centrally located with pretty surroundings and a pedestrian path that passes right by the marina. Walking distance to restaurants, groceries, museums and city. Entrance channel was newly dredged in 2015.
