Getting a mooring in Serangan can be a great place to base oneself to explore Bali. The entrance to the harbor is well marked and well used by local tourist boats but since the water isn't clear and there are reefs to avoid be sure to have good light. There isn't much room to anchor inside the harbor as it is filled with moorings and there are many large charter boats coming & going. There is also a large reef that runs along the northern part of the anchorage, visible at low tide. It is generally well protected, especially if you are tucked up in the inner harbor.

Two ways to get a mooring are to either wait for someone to come by in a skiff to assist you (there are at least 2 men that help with finding moorings and catering to needs such as fuel & water) or to email Ruth, who used to work for the Royal Bali Yacht Club but this has apparently dissolved and she has her own office now called Isle Marine Services. You can reserve a mooring ahead of time with her & she can assist with laundry & propane as well as clearance in/out of Indonesia. Email: info@islemarine.com, VHF 07.

Land the dinghy at one of the wharves in the anchorage. There is rubbish disposal, small shops, a turtle sanctuary and some tourist/ferry shops. Within taxi distance there are 2 large grocery stores for provisioning. The airport is minutes away and this is a convenient place to fly out of to explore other parts of Indonesia such as Borobudur.
