Marina Mindelo is a modern style marina in the city of Mindelo on the island of Sao Vicente. It is a popular stop for boats on the way across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands and north and both the ARC and Odyssey rallies pull in here in Nov/Dec for a rest and to re-provision. Approach is easy although once inside the large natural harbor, there are a few wrecks and derelict boats, as well as some that are not lit so it is better to arrive in daylight.
The marina is modern and has good security with key card access gates to the docks and facilities. Water & power at each berth. Water is a little expensive but always available with good pressure. Dockage is stern to with a slime line or a laid buoy depending on which side of the dock you are are on. This area always seems breezy and can be gusty. Because the whole dock system is anchored to the seabed as opposed to being solidly mounted, there is a fair amount of surge and motion here. Worst when there is a larger swell. You will want to be well fendered and have good dock lines but it is still a safe place to be. The marina has a popular floating bistro with good internet and there is a small chandlery on site. There is a self serve laundry fairly close but and they also do pickups every day from the marina. There is better provisioning here than we expected especially in the produce area. Lots of shops, markets, restaurants, some nice things to do on shore such as taking a 1 hr ferry to Sao Antao which is mainly park and offers some spectacular hiking! You can also climb Monte Verde, Sao Vicente's highest mountain.
