Anchorage Facts
Bottom Type Mud

A town which has the last frontier feel about it. Named after Captain Cook after he ran onto a reef nearby and made it here into Endeavor Inlet  while bailing the holed craft continuously. Careened it on the beach here for repairs to the breach. And a lot more early Australian history. Very good museum  in an old nineteenth-century convent. However a crowded anchorage. If a shallow draft you can usually get something opposite the boat ramp where you can also tie up your dingy. Water at top of boat ramp. Fuel available at fishing jetty next door as well as laundromat and hot showers. Free cold shower across the road.  For monos depth can be found following the river up a bit to the right, on the bend after passing over the sand bar opposite said boat ramp. But be careful as entry may not be possible on a low tide. All the usual amenities of a small town and all in walking distance. IGA supermarket and a large hardware store will be the furthest you will need to walk. Holding is good providing you do not snag onto anything and allow to swing with the tide. Anchored in 1.5m (0.5 under the keel @ LT), Be careful of your anchor as when the tide turns the boat swings and the anchor can twist out. Especially when the wind and tide are the same. No marina but there are spaces to hire at the wharf.
