This is a really lovely anchorage on the south side of Cabo Farrutx. It has good protection from North through SE winds. In east winds a light swell can enter but it is still quite pleasant. There are scattered rocks along the bottom that really can create difficulty picking up your anchor because the chain gets tangled (this happened to us twice) but holding is generally good. The water is a pretty emerald green and there is a small mole where you can tie the dinghy. The cliff formations along shore are interesting. The mountains make for some beautiful scenery and because the area is park (Parc Natural de la Peninsula de Llevant), it is undeveloped. There is a coastal road lined with pine trees that leads south to the town of Betlam. There are also very rugged trails that head up to the top of Talaia Moreia defensive tower built in 1577. This is a popular spot for local weekenders and a good place to begin or end a trip to Menorca. On approach, be aware that rocks and shallows extend from Punta D'Es Calo as you are rounding to enter the inner anchorage.
