Lintea & Sawa Islands are just southwest of Tomia Island and surrounded by reef forming a lagoon south of both islands. A clear, wide, deep entrance channel to the lagoon is located on the western edge of the barrier reef, easily seen on a satellite chart. There are many dive sites around this area and Wakatobi Resort has a map describing the area. Local villages use this lagoon, channel and these islands for fishing. We entered the lagoon using the sat chart and it was easy and clear. Inside the lagoon, the center was generally clear of coral but very large & exposed. Average depth was 85 feet. Attempting to get close to either island however, was impossible due to shoaling depths and many patch reefs that were difficult to weave through. Furthermore, the water inside the lagoon wasn't very clear at the time we visited- August 2015. We therefore didn't anchor or dive this area and the one boat that did anchor overnight reported a lumpy anchorage that didn't calm down over night. This area could be good as a day stop, or even an overnight at a different time of year when conditions could be more favorable.
