Georgetown is the hub of the very popular Elizabeth Harbour, the area between Stocking Island and the Great Exuma Island. You can anchor anywhere in front of the town as long as you avoid the channels to the commercial dock and to the marina . These channels are clearly marked on most charts. The marked anchorage is about as far in as you can go drawing 2 meters at low tide. The anchorage is open to NW wind. With a strong easterly trade wind, there will be quite a chop. Move closer to Stocking Island to get protection, if necessary. Georgetown is a port of entry, with customs and immigration offices.

Georgetown is the Exuma's cruising epicenter. We used it as a base to re-provision while hopping to the out islands.
