Palau Dayang Bunting has numerous
beautiful anchorages with great scenery and peaceful surroundings.
You can anchor just about anywhere. This spot is near the wharf for
Princess Lake and is in about 19 feet of mud, good holding. Good in
the NE monsoon.
You can visit the Dayang Bunting
Geoforest Park easily from here. Tie up at the wharf, pay a small
entrance fee and walk the path leading to the lake. There is also a
boardwalk leading to a lookout of the anchorage. This is Langkawi's
largest fresh water lake. Named the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden,
there is a legend around it that is explained on info panels at the
park, along with the more scientific geology around it. It is also
fun to tour around the islands just south of the anchorage by dinghy
if it's calm. There are interesting rock formations, sea eagles and
sea birds as well as other potential anchorage spots to explore.
