Good anchorage for accessing the Barrenjoey Heads track, as well as the towns of Avalon and Newport on the peninsula. To get to the Barrenjoey Heads track, we beached our dinghy near the Palm Beach Ferry wharf and walked from there, but you can take your dinghy further north to shorten the walk. The Palm Beach Bus (L90) runs along Barrenjoey Road, with stops in Avalon, Newport, Mona Vale and other places and goes all the way into Sydney. The closest bus stop is near the Palm Beach anchorage wharf (a private wharf). We beached our dinghy next to the wharf.
