Description (0)
Mar Menor is nearly enclosed by a sand spit on the seaward side but not quite. There is a very shallow area (not passable except with a dinghy) of islets near Punta del Pudrimel. On the northernmost end of Mar Menor, a finger of land reaches southward and forms the park, as well as an active salt pan industry. You can reach the park by land via San Pedro del Pinatar or you can access it by dinghy near the southern end, next to the windmill is a spot. There is a beach and a place to tie the dinghy and this puts you right on the trail/bike path that loops around the park. You'll see active salt pans, a huge pile of salt, flamingoes, 2 windmills, the long beach on the ocean side that has sand firm enough to bike on for most of the way, you can stop at the San Pedro del Pinatar marina complex to eat at one of many restaurants and you can lather up with mud at the mud baths near the town of Lo Pagan. It is better with bikes but walking is fine too. The park path makes a long loop that you can do all or part of and has all the sights listed above. There isn't a dedicated website for the park but check Trip Advisor for up to date info as it is a popular place. Good for birding too. The marker is set near the windmill where there is dinghy access but the whole peninsula is part of the park so there are many more access points.

Windmill
This is the windmill where you can tie the dinghy if you like. It is at the southern end of the peninsula and right on the walk/bike path.
