Little Farmer's has maintained its old Bahama feel so far and is a popular place to stop when moving through the Exumas. Entrance is easy through Farmers Cay Cut although in wind against current it can be choppy. Once inside, you can peel off to port and follow the blue water into the semi rounded cove on Big Farmers Cay, or head to the north side of Little Farmers and find a spot there where your draft allows keeping an eye on your chart for depths. A lot of current sweeps through here and unless you are on a sandbank, the bottom is scoured and there is no holding. We anchored on the sandy bank in 6 feet at low.
Ashore on Little Farmers are little roads for walking, friendly locals, the main harbor (called Little Harbor) where tour boats, fishermen and ferries dock, a few restaurants and little shops. "JR" is the wood carver. Terry Bain runs Ocean Cabins and has a restaurant where service is included but as he says, "you can always give more". He also organizes the Farmer's Cay Festival event in February that welcomes cruisers to attend. Farmers Cay Yacht Club is also in the harbor and has some docking space as well as a restaurant. There are a few rental moorings in the harbor that you can pick up. Ocean Cabin owns at least a couple of them. Radio on VHF 16 to inquire. Might want to make sure they are fit for use first!
In Little Harbor, there are two turtles and some rays that hang out waiting for scraps. Locals offer to give you conch guts to feed them while swimming for a fee and will help you capture it all in pictures.
