Salamander Bay is just around the corner from Corlette Point in Port Stephens. It is a large mud bottomed bay that will make you wish for a deck washdown pump if you don't have one but there is plenty of room to anchor. There is one free pink public mooring. Be aware that the bottom shoals up a fair ways from shore. There is a small beach park amid the houses that is a good place to land the dinghy for a 15 minute walk up Sandy Point Rd to Salamander Bay Shopping Center which has THREE grocery stores along with a mall & restaurants.
