Description (1)
The Pipeline is an old disused pipe that starts just to the south of the D'Albora Marina right after the breakwater ends. There are steps that go down to the entry point and a sign on shore that notes the Pipeline. A unique dive site, this is one that zeroes in on macro life found on, under & around the pipe as it runs out toward the middle of the bay in a sandy, rubble, bottom. We saw rhinoceros crabs, blue lined octopus, many regular octopus, a whole garden of bright purple & orange sponges, many nudibranchs and some nice grasses. Use the Diving Nelson Bay website to orient yourself to the dive and also to ID things you find on the dive! We didn't notice much of any current, the vis was reasonable and we anchored the dinghy just off the shore in a patch of sand but the bottom is primarily sea grass along the shore. We never went deeper than approx 40 feet.

Ok, first of all this is not about clear water or beautiful reefs. This dive is all about finding some interesting new animals. Great fun.
