This quaint, rural riverside town lies 20 miles upstream on the River Guadiana and right across from the town of Alcoutim on the Portugal side. A small pedestrian ferry goes back & forth between the two towns all day long and costs 1 Euro. There is a long pontoon that you can pull up to if there is space on it and inquire at the town office about exactly where to go to pay and get the key for the bathrooms/showers that are there for yachties. The pontoon has power and water. The town is cute and the fort that overlooks everything- Castelo de San Marcos, is open for touring at scheduled hours. Inquire at the tourist office right above the docks in the shady square near the restaurant. There is great walking & biking here. A signboard near the tourist office shows the paths. There is also a boat ramp, in case you end up anchoring, you can pull the dinghy up the ramp onto the grass. There is little place to put it on the floating docks.

Features
  • There is laundry service in Alcoutim right near the docks
