One can access two great trails of the
Whitsunday Islands National Park from Sawmill Beach at Cid Harbor.
They are both well marked, have park facilities such as bathrooms &
picnic areas and its easy to beach the dinghy on Sawmill Beach to do
them. The first one is called the Dugong-Sawmill Track and it leads
over a small hill from Sawmill Beach to Dugong Beach, through pretty
woods. It's only about 1km long but its nice and there's a lot of
work in the trail.
The other track goes up to Whitsunday
Peak, 5km return. The trail is fairly steep but well maintained and
once again, lots of work in the form of steps, drainage and good
signs. The summit provides fantastic views and there is interesting
foliage as you ascend.
