Cid Harbor is on the west side of Whitsunday Island and is popular with charter boats and is less than 15 miles from Airlie Beach. It is a large harbor with plenty of room to anchor and gives excellent protection from NW-SE-SW winds depending on where you anchor. It would not be good in winds from the west. Holding is good in sand & mud. Sawmill Bay is the most popular place to drop the hook. If coming in via Hunt Channel, be aware of strong currents & wind bullets. There are small but pleasant beaches, day use park facilities at Dugong Beach, Sawmill Beach and there are two hiking trails including one that goes to Whitsunday Peak. Please see separate entry for trail info.
