This is a large but protected bay on the north side of St John. There are many moorings to pick up and you can even anchor here if the moorings are full. You can snorkel or dive at nearby Whistling Cay. If you land the dinghy in Maho Bay, there is a pretty beach and also access to trails that cross over to the other side of the island. There was significant damage to the trees from the hurricanes of September 2017 but new palms have been re-planted. There are also trails in Francis Bay itself. The boardwalk that circled an inland marsh area was was destroyed in the storms and is currently closed but the park service intends to rebuild it.
