Great St James Island is right off the eastern coast of St Thomas and Christmas Cove is on the western side. Good protection here and many free DNR moorings to pick up! The island itself is posted no trespassing but the anchorage is popular with charter boats and cruising boats alike. Approach is easy, there are moorings on both sides of Fish Cay which is in the center of the cove. It is fun to swim around in this anchorage and we were treated to two tame dolphin- a mother and juvenile who just wanted to play. There are floating park signs to orient you to park rules.
