This is one of 2 very protected anchorages from pretty much all directions at the head of Prony Bay. This waypoint is the western arm of Baie du Carenage and is in approx 15 feet good holding in muddy sand. The head of the bay shoals rapidly so enter with care and don't go past the point on the NE side of the anchorage. There is pretty good access to walk part of the GR1 hiking trail from here as well as to see some old mine ruins. From the anchorage, take the dinghy around the mangrove point on the left hand side and proceed carefully up the creek past some old mining foundation ruins in the middle of the creek until you get to the remains of a stone platform on your right, likely remnants of a wharf. This is a good place to tie the dinghy and a feeder trail to the GR1 begins right there. It is best done at mid-tide or better. There is another trail that supposedly comes to the shoreline on the right side of the anchorage but we didn't try it. From the satellite image, you can see how the GR1 weaves through the area.
