This anchorage was easy to approach by staying about midway between the small rock islet to the west of thion and Thion Island itself as shown on the satellite image. The shallowest we saw on approach was 26 feet just before we entered the white sand bowl where we dropped the hook. The anchorage waypoint is in approx 34 feet of pure white sand, excellent holding. There are a few bommies around in the anchroage area itself but we were well contered among them. If you decide to anchor elsewhere, then be aware of the shoals and bommies in the area, especially just to the SW of you. Well protected from prevailing wind, you also have a pretty white sand beach in front of you. There is fair snorkeling on the reef just to the SW (along with a small wreck) but the best snorkeling area is around the corner (see separate entry). We didn't visit the village so cannot comment on it.
