Our visit to Hog Harbor was mainly to scuba dive on Elephant Island (Lathu). We anchored in 20 feet on white sand. Some mild swell came into the anchorage but it wasn't uncomfortable in the light conditions we had. Good protection from E, S & W but open to the north. The snorkeling was pretty good on Sungeon Moror Reef (except for all the Crown of Thorns), which is just off the peninsula that frames Champagne Beach on the eastern side of the harbor. The snorkeling right in the anchorage off the beach was just OK with limited visibility. Ashore on the beach, low key Lonnoc Bay Bungalows welcomes cruisers. From their driveway you can walk to the left for Champagne Beach or to the right to meet up with the main road which leads to the village of Hog Harbor. The village has a trade store (the kind with the window).
