Anse Mitan

A popular place for cruising boats and tourists alike, Anse Mitan is a short hop from Fort de France and the anchorage is large with good holding. The dangers on approach are well marked on the chart and buoyed.  There is a good pier that services the tourist catamarans and ferries but there is also space for dinghies at the shallower end. There is a beach, restaurants, small groceries ashore along with car rental options. A ferry service operates between Fort de France & Anse A L'Ane. Expect wakes in the anchorage from these ferries until dark! The water wasn't particularly clear when we were here so nothing to recommend for snorkeling. The La Pagerie museum is nearby which is the original home of Empress Josephine.
