This area is a popular liveaboard dive
boat stop, especially in the evenings because there's a nice trail to
head up to watch the sunset. It is also a scuba site called the
Golden Passage that traverses the cut. It is a beautiful spot with
clear, colorful water, good snorkeling, a beach with lots of trash
and a few trails on the island that offer spectacular views in all
directions. Unlike Komodo Island, this island has no dragons so
hiking is OK. There are two moorings and anchoring is not allowed-
see sign on shore. Even though this is a popular spot, it can also be
empty for hours and moorings can go unused overnight. We were here
alone. There is another mooring around the corner to the north on the
west side of Gili Lawa Darat (through the pass).
If you can't find a free mooring, it is
easy enough to anchor in Loh Gebah Bay(or pick up one of 2 moorings
there) and dinghy over. You can also ask to raft up to one of the
Phinisi boats.
